There has been a lot of sad and shocking news from around the world this last week, including the horrific shootings in Paris. Some of you may know that Paris plays a big part in my personal history; having spent most of my 20's and early 30's there, it is a city I am proud and lucky enough to be able to call one of my homes. I am fortunate that my close friends are all physically unharmed by last week's events, but the shock is certainly still lingering. I think in times like this it helps to look at beauty rather than only focusing on the bad, which is why I've decided that now is a good time for a giveaway. **UPDATE this giveaway is now closed**
I've been wanting to do a giveaway for a while, and I think that now is the perfect time to feature my friend Emily Dilling's new book My Paris Market Cookbook to showcase the beauty, history and culture of Paris. I think that by focusing on the good, maybe in some small way we can outweigh the bad.
Even if Emily weren't my friend, I would still love this book and I think even those who have never been to Paris will love it! Here's a description that I grabbed from Amazon:
Based on Emily Dilling’s popular blog, Paris Paysanne, My Paris Market Cookbook: A Culinary Tour of French Flavors and Seasonal Recipes takes readers on a tour of Paris’s growing artisanal and craft food scene. Visits to markets with local farmers, coffee roasters, and craft brewers in the city offer insight into the exciting development of local food movements in the city of lights and its surrounding region. Complete with seasonal recipes inspired by local products, farmers, chefs, restaurants, and cafés, My Paris Market Cookbook brings the experience of shopping for, and cooking with, fresh locally grown products into readers’ homes and kitchens.
The recipes are divided seasonally, with winter's recipes including a classic french onion soup, slow-cooked chicken in wine & mushroom sauce, and a queen of sheba cake. The ingredients she uses in the recipes are easily found anywhere, and they are classic but simple so you don't have to be an expert chef to pull off these amazing dishes.

You have up to 5 chances to win the book. You don't have to complete all 5 things, but each one will get you another entry into the drawing which increases your chances of winning!
